The first picture I took of Courtenay in 1978

This is one I took in 1994. As mentioned, I am not a photographer, no "show and tell". I take pictures for myself for the purpose "I been there". I often involve one of my vehicles, in this case it's the green Ford Van.

The story behind these pictures. In 1998 I was the Tour Guide for the premiere tour by the WCRA (Westcoast Railway Association) then based in Burnaby but now located just North of Squamish (Large Railway Museum).
It was the very first tour for this loop. By Budd Car From North Vancouver to Williams Lake - overnight, by Bus to Bella Coola - overnight in Hagensborg, by Ferry to Port Hardy and then by bus to Courtenay, from there by Budd Car to Victoria and then by ferry to Vancouver.
It was an extremely popular tour (an understatement) and was repeated a few times (while possible). First pictures shows tour attendees embarking the Budd Cars at Courtenay. The other picture is me with the lead Budd. Very memorable. Digging through the pictures I found a detailed account I made for this tour to advise WCRA for follow-up tours. Man, it was detailed. .
